A Confession

i mentioned in an earlier post about the difficulty i have have announcing

upcoming gallery shows  and other events where my work is featured.

here is an example. these two paintings that were accepted in a juried show, CA 101,

which  included artists from throughout california.  the show was held at

the closed edison power plant in redondo beach.  the venue was like nothing

i had seen before, very funky, retro and artsy. my painting was selected

to advertise the event in the local  paper  http://tbrnews.com/calendar/.   i was also

interviewed for an article in the paper.   unfortunately, i was out of town

for the duration of the show but i was able to see all the work

hung and displayed before the opening.   it was an honor to be a part of the event.

my friends and blog are keeping my honest~~i am working at being better

at posting showings in a timely manner in the future.

i'd love to know if are you reluctant or shy to show and tell?

have gotten over it?  can you share the process?

jacki long, a fellow artist visited the experimental art show at

summer studio this week.  she did a great job of photographing and reporting her

experience here on her blog:

i think you will enjoy the tour

today i am linking with paint party friday

  1. Awww, thanks Irene. I am so glad you likes the post.

Your work is so consistently strong yet lovely, please share it.

And yes, I am always hesitant to put myself out there. It took three days (and a big nudge from Brandy) for me to build up courage to include you and Orly in my mailing for the upcoming class. So many of us, are timid children inside?

  2. I love your new works Irene and also understand where you are coming from regarding not letting people know about your work being shown. for many years I stopped painting and was full of lots of self doubt ( still am ) I am so glad you are sharing your beautiful creations with your blog friends, as I certainly connect wholeheartedly with your work.

  4. Thanks for the show tour, Irene. Lovely bright stuff and what a great facility. You must put your best work out there - the inside of the drawer provides little in the way of feedback and encouragement!

  5. Thank you for your comments and words on my work. Your encouragement has given me a new perspective. You are right, Catherine, the inside of the drawer will never give me the satisfaction of live comments. Paper Rainbow and Jacki, we have each taken steps toward being visible. Yay for us. Let's not stop there. The first step is the hardest. Now for the next step. . . .

  10. Wow while I was reading this I kept thinking she needs to own her wonderful talent and celebrate her ability....and then.....you asked that question.... and I knew I'd be just like you! I have noticed a common thread among many artists and musicians...they have no idea how good they really are!! You are amazing...your work is gorgeous!! OWN IT!! .....I will work on doing the same!
