day 5

30 paintings in 30 days

29 faces

i have taken on several creative challenges this month...

one probably would have been enough but i could not say no

to the second... and then the third, a journaling challenge with

prompts came along.  after much thought i decided i would try.

if it became too much i would bow out.  as it turns out,

the journaling is fueling my creative fire.   i learned

that you can never predict what will be the one thing

that will add to your life.  do you spark your creativity

in any particular way?

mixed media on canvas, 30 paintings in 30 days

acrylic teabag, 365 teabag paintings

and a journal entry for

30 day journal with lisa sonora

page in handmade journal,  pages made from eco dyed and boiled paper

"Pursuing my path of becoming an artist wasn't really about the art."
Lisa Sonora

the journaling reads:

my family immigrated to the united states in the
early 1900s from japan.  each of them explored
art at times of distress.

i do my art because it is my calling.  i did not
know this for decades.

this is a friday post along with others creatives
at paint party friday, a weekly showcase of art
 hosted by eva and kristen.

thank you for visiting today.
and if you choose to post a comment,
thank you for your time and consideration.
both are appreciated!

  3. Your art is beautiful, Irene, especially the mixed media on canvas. I didn't know you were of Japanese descent. My best art buddy is Japanese, born in Tokyo but she came to the US about 40 years ago.

    1. Yes!! I agree. Being swamped does not allow for the critical mind to get in the way.... You're just too busy :) Hmm, I should learn something from that. Thanks for visiting dear John.

  8. OMGOSH..... Irene these are all beautiful. That first painting is breath taking. I am always so impressed on how you create a face with such little detailed lines so the imagination fills it all in. It is truly your gift.

  14. Beautiful artwork Irene, I'm in awe of you accepting three challenges. I would struggle with one. I have only discovered my drawing/painting calling in the last few years. I wish I'd have found it years ago.

  15. three challenges all at once! Very brave! I never understand how someone can make 30 paintings in 30 days! But it is true that the more you paint the easier it gets and the more you can do. Your three creations are beautiful, I especially like the journalpage: wonderful composition and choice of colour.

  18. Such beautiful work Irene I'm so glad you found your creative power! I love the variety you always bring to the table. Creativity is always such a beautiful surprise to me, I never know when a good idea might strike. However I do know many of my writings are provoked by deep emotion! I think some of the art just trickles out behind that! I love how a piece will start out as one gender and become another! I love the birthing of an art piece! Great post!
