a teabag, collage and a midwest wedding

she knew she was from another time

on the outside but on the inside she soars.

i did a few collages in a small sketch book.

i used one brochure for the collage material.

this is a self portrait

to give you an idea of size.

this past weekend i attended a wedding

in bloomington, indiana where

the leaves were just beginning to display

their fall beauty.

there was a special exhibit by a brazilian artist, Vic Muniz

at the indiana university art  museum.

his work inspired me to cut and paste... and i can't stop!

some of us in my print group had traveled a bi recently.

we discussed the fact that travel opens the

senses because, partly, because you are free of every day

chores and responsibilities.  You can be open to the

new, use your senses to take in your surroundings

and process in a different way.  one of the reasons

i love to travel!  do you find this to be true?

i am linking this post with the folks at

paint party friday hosted weekly by kristen and eva.

  1. Wonderful collages. I love collage but get impatient when sticky fingers pick up paper one did not intend to pick up.

    1. Hello Fran, Thank you for your lovely comments. I feel the same way about the sticky fingers! I don't know how to avoid that but today I am going to try using gloves to see if that helps?

  18. Great art again!
I agree, traveling opens your eyes and mind but living abroad is even better. After several years in different countries I do appreciate for example that in Finland I can drink clean tap water, our air and nature is clean, it's safe (most of us don't have guns, only hunters do), minimum corruption, good education etc. Life is not perfect (I'm not a fan of snow and ice) but I know it's not perfect anywhere - every place has good and bad things...
    But. Life is good.
    Have a creative week!

  19. Great portrait-miniatures! And such wonderful red leaves...
By the way: we always travel with our bicycles, we haven't car (and not money for the train).
    Happy Halloween from Germany

  21. Love you collages! I love how you use bits of paper with faces on them to incorporate into the faces you create! Now you make me want to pick up scissors and glue too! Me too, I love travelling for all the new sensations and experiences, but I tend to travel to the same place, which is nice too, a bit like a second home :)
