on this last day of 2016

i continue my daily 

teabag painting practice

using various mediums.

journals of the year stacked together

on my night stand for now. 

some sketches with micron pens,

a water brush and graphite. 

and i wrote a letter about

something that needed to let go.

the letter was burned, 

some ashes added to my journal 

to honor its place in my life

and to say a final goodbye.

while for the most part is has been a full and

wonderful year,

“I've learned a lot this year.. I learned that things

don't always turn our the way you planned,

 or the way you think they should. And I've learned that there are things 

that go wrong that don't always get fixed or get put back together 

the way they were before. I've learned that some broken things stay broken, 

and I've learned that you can get through bad times and 

keep looking for better ones, as long as you have people who love you.”

i am ready for fresh newness in 2017.

also, i say goodbye, once again, to my favorite 

sight every year as i come down my stairs. 

happy new year!
