This week

I saw this from across the room in an office and was attracted to the colors.  Then I saw there was an image, then the words.

                                                         My sight, my heart,
                                                         my life. . . .
All three words I have woven into one.
                                                         LOVE

                                                         Rumi

I painted a few more colorful creatures for my series.

Had my local hardware person, Tim  cut a 6 inch squeegee down to 4 inches~~ it is so cute~~ I couldn't wait to play and make some backgrounds.

Watched this guy bloom.

Into this beauty three days later.  I don't know the name of this plant that was given to me years ago but it blooms faithfully every year.

Attended this opening at the Palos Verdes Art Center with
Barry Markowitz's amazing metal leafing and inspired drawings.

Went to the Hollywood Bowl (actually, last week)  on a beautiful LA evening, felt the light sink into the evening, the Hollywood hills as a backdrop, picnicked with friends and listened to the jazz trumpet by Chris Botti.  Michael Buble sang My Funny valentine as a surprise guest!  I felt like I was in a dreamy movie.

July Meandering

I joined Teesha Moore in a mini collage and paint workshop in Carson.  I have never taken a workshop with her.  I highly recommend it if  you can.

Celebrated Joysea's birthday at The Rose cafe with Gina in Venice.  We strolled along Abbott Kinney.  and popped into the eclectic shops afterwards.   I made her this card.

This is my first abstract painting in Carol Morris Ward's class.   Hmm,  I am not familiar with abstracts but I am giving it a try.  We were to start with neutral colors of varying values.  It was hard not factoring  a focal image into it.  We will be building on this next week.

Another in my series inspired by Jesse Reno.  I now have 12!  I am aiming for 20.

And a refreshing basil grape cosmo with Cindy at Terranea.  Now doesn't that look good?

I love my July Journal

I can't keep my hands off of this journal that I made in Kelly Kilmer's workshop.  I am in the car with Bob sneaking a photo of it on my lap.

A peek inside.

. . . . and a couple of pages.

Where I draw inspiration this weekend

The beauty of the Pacific

Shadow of my lemon tree

A treasure trove of supplies and two days of art led by the talented muse, Kelly Kilmer. I made a new journal with pages almost filled.  It is a renewing and satisfying time luxuriating in glue, paper, images with other like minded friends.

This might look like your ordinary scrambled eggs but Tony at Ranch Market suggested this as his favorite after he works out: a scrambled egg with a side of  chopped tomatoes, avocado with cilantro, red onion, a squeeze of lime (the secret ingredient), a smidge of s & p.
Deceptively delicious.

Listening to a story of  Marie Antoinette as a 14 year old in the French court, while knowing the direction her life takes.

Happy Fourth.
