Balance

acrylic on bristol

there is no balance

when you look to the outside

find it from within

my regular walking friend had to work out of town this morning.
instead of walking along the beach as i normally do with her,
i decided to walk in the neighborhood. i walked without a camera,
without a phone, without a friend to talk to.
just me and my longing eyes. i felt the world open up.
there were mottled leaves decorating the ground, creatures within the cracks in the
concrete, pods that look like fairy seats, downey feathers, a heart shaped leaf and
a  peacock not more than a foot away from me.  i must have looked
safe because he sauntered but did not run away. i picked up a few mementos
as inspiration for sketches but mostly i take with me
a reminder of the quite that resides within and
how simple acts can bring us back to our center

wishing you a lovely spring weekend

XO
