at the values in a piece.

and with a slight chance in the saturation

this results.

ps  i continue to perge and declutter by collecting at least a bag

filled to give away, recycle or throw away.  i say that but look at

my desk....just saying...i have a long way to go.  and of course,

in the process after a birthday lunch i found a chandelier at anthropologie

that i was jus that i was looking for...if you can't see the details,

it is wrapped with text paper.   had to have it.  what do you think?

i think i am a consumer/collector at heart.

happy paint party friday.  thanking kristin and eva for this weekly

gather and welcoming all familiar and new friends.

after adhering tissue bits to deli paper.  you can see that it

has a bit of texture.  i am not good at keeping my collage

pieces flat.

i decided to paint something after one of my

favorite artists, marc chagall.  i am drawn to

his whimsical creatures and the scenes from his beloved

home town village in Russia.

i wanted to take more process photos but got

so involved with painting that i only took this one.

i used gloss medium under and on the top as an adhesive to glue the

tissue down so the paper was glossy .  i tried to sketch with

pencil and charcoal but the gloss made it difficult so i

just started painting.

i rarely use blue but it seemed to be a chagall favorite.  i like

the color actually and wonder if it will pop up more in

my work.

It's October!

And I have been making collage papers from magazines for the retablo I'm making tomorrow.

Painting faces in phone books thanks to Katie's fab-u-lo-so online class.

More creatures came visiting. This time a colorful flock of winged friends.

While I know that creativity is a fickle playmate, I am grateful for the bounty of the season.
What are you creating?

Inspiration to Creation

I love the Tetons!  The angular shapes are very different from the familiar Rockies.  But splendid indeed.  I had not been there in almost fifteen years.  Way too long.    But finally, here I am.

I wanted to take in two sights.  One was these magnificent mountains.

We got a closer look by taking the new tram at Jackson Hole up 4600 vertical feet.   It was sunny and warm at the bottom and cold and windy at the top. I didn't think about weather change so I wore only my t shirt and shorts.  But there was always the next tram down to the warm valley bottom.  Instead of doing it the easy way, we  decided to hike all the way down.  Almost seven and a half miles.  Were my feet sore. Luckily there was a Four Seasons waiting at the bottom with a nice cold glass of wine.

The other thing I wanted to see was a moose.  There were moose sightings everywhere.  Napkin rings.

Photographs

Sculptures

Even butter molds

I followed the line of parked cars and people scurrying across a field in the Grand Teton National Park.  I knew there was some sort of sighting.  There was my moose.  He stood in the river, as close as a house across the street, half hidden in the brush.  I laughed out loud.  Moose are huge animals.  And funny looking.  He watched us and chewed.  I could see his teeth and  tongue through my binoculars.  He spurred me to paint this, my version of a moose.
