Just like at home, I have created a corner in the cozy cottage at Sundance Utah.
I cut out more house shapes before i left and am collaging them.
A wonderful and whimsical artist, Brandy Emerson gave me the book,
Steal Like An Artist.
I had seen it before but never read this powerful
and motivating book. I am crossing my fingers that this will post from my ipad.
Wow, what a beautiful setting! Have a wonderful time Irene.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I was just reading my copy given by Brandy and was pleasantly surprised.
Am loving my new journal. Thanks again!
Yes the setting is beautiful and so different from sunny Southern California. I am enjoying the book, the style and information. What do you think? So glad you love your journal!
DeleteWhat a lovely setting to work in. The cottage and the surrounding countryside looks lovely..Thanks for your comment on my little offering for the SOC challenge she is painted on 5"x7" watercolour paper.
ReplyDeleteThe little cottage is a great home base and so conducive to do a little art when I get a few free minutes. I love your painting!
DeleteOh lovely!!! How fun to bring artsy materials with you. i am on vacation but I just couldn't get my things together to bring them to my sisters so here I am peeping at everyone's desks and having withdrawals!!! Happy WOYWW! Angie#56
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your visit. Maybe you can grab a pen/ pencil and paper and do some sketching?
DeleteIt posted perfectly. Love this place you are in. I have not read this book either. Let me know what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week
Nicole/Beadwright
I am glad it posted at all but still have not learned how to edit. I'm working on it :) between walks and nature watching, oh and World Cup soccer, there's not much time :). The book is short, to the point with meaty tips that I found helpful. It's written in 10 short chapters that are easily read but gives specific pointers. xo
DeleteYour world is so inviting Irene. It looks like such a getaway place. I want to read that book. I just finished his second book "Show Your Work". It was very motivating also.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, Lisa. It is a cozy getaway. Isn't that a coincidence that we are reading books by the same author? I read some reviews about Show your Work but am glad to see you have found it motivating. I'll get a copy.
DeleteOh, it looks so cozy and comfy! I was just speaking of UT as a friend just married and moved to Fairview. I am in NYC, so I don't have much knowlege of the area, but it looks so pretty! Enjoy your spot! Winnie#50
ReplyDeleteIt's very different from my home near the Pacific. I so love to see so much green, though I adore all that NYC has to offer. Thank you for visiting today.
DeleteWhat a wonderful workspace you have Irene, so serene and calm.
ReplyDeleteHi Morag, sometimes being in a whole new environment shakes up the senses and memories in a good way. I feel that way reading blogs from different amazing locations over the world, like the Isle of Skye :)
DeleteWhat a peaceful setting! I can almost hear the running water from here. I have not read that book, Steal Like an Artist. Are you enjoying it? Diane #40
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, I had seen the book before I received it as a gift and thought it might be simplistic. To the contrary, I found much I can use and practice. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

ReplyDeleteWhat inspiration can be found there. Did you go on a retreat, Irene, or were you simply visiting a creative friend who just happened to live in paradise?
