The Pacific Ocean beckons, arms wide to embrace the totality of life,
a reminder that each day is unique, each moment a lifetime.
I still stop my car at the sight of a sunset as I did
a quarter of a century ago with
my son in his infant seat. "Look
at the sky," I would say and point to another
flawless horizon as we sat to watch the last
of the persimmon colored embers transform the sky,
then drive the three blocks home in the silence
reflected under clouds.

Gorgeous. I love the handwritten words used as framing for the image and reading what you wrote. 25 years later-the view still stops you, awed. Isn't that wonderful?

ReplyDeleteI love sharing beautiful skies and wonders of nature with my kids...I hope they learn to appreciate such beauty themselves and remember us sharing such moments together. Just this afternoon, in fact, my 6 year old son asked me if I remembered that really pretty sunset we saw togehter last year when I'd forgotten to take my camera with me...I think I might be making an impression on them ;)
