a teabag lady of the week

i gathered together all of my journals from various

corners of the house.  i thought this was it, 89, but

found even more afterwards.  what am i doing with them?

for now, i have stored them by years, some are on display,

and  try using copies in my art.  i am curious what you do with your

completed journals.  do you read them?  do you display them?

do you share them in any way?

i am also trying to keep a daily drawing practice.

when i use pencil i get too persnickety and that

is not my point.  it is just practice.

thank you for visiting today.  i appreciate your comments.

leave your address and i will visit you!

today, a sweet teabag girl.  i used acrylic,

collage, charcoal pencil and hand made papers.

every year i talk about oshogatsu feast, the

japanese new year day celebration.

my friend hosts friends and family

and i am the sous chef.  we stand next to each other

for hours and hours chopping, cooking, preparing,

presenting the dishes for guests.   many of you

may not be familiar or have ever seen the foods

we eat on this auspicious day so i wanted to show you here.

i have not missed one oshogatsu in my life! whereever i was in the world,

i came home to be with my family.  when i had my own family

and my parents were older, i carried on the tradition.

now my son, carries on, creating a small feast in chicago.

do you carry on family traditions?  i would love to hear of them.

thank you for visiting me at my blog today.

i appreciate your visit and any comments.

today's post is linked, as is every friday with

i participated in a fiber art swap

for it, i used crochet pieces from the swap meet

and made a little crochet teabag book

the first week of the new year

has passed.  it feels like a monumental

year.  i don't know why or what will take place,

but i have a sense of expectation.

it's the sense i get when

i see a flock of

pelicans flying above

i thought you might like to see a a follow up from

the burn ritual i described in the last post.

the black portion of this journal spread

is what was burned and glued.  additional paint, acrylic markers,

and journaling was added.   i found this to be a

satisfying way to complete and transform feelings

in what was a difficult experience for me to process.
